The construction site of the Vulcănești-Chișinău Energy Independence Line extends over a distance that represents approximately 70% of the total length of the OHL, with a number of over 130 assembled pylons and approximately 340 foundations. The works are in full swing in several localities simultaneously in the districts of Cimișlia, Taraclia, Leova and ATU Gagauzia.

At the same time, the construction works of the foundations were completed at the Chișinău Electric Station, and the assembly of the metal structures for the electrical equipment is underway.

In accordance with the work plan, the Line will be completed and connected to the infrastructure of the Moldelectrica State Enterprise, through the Vulcănești Electric Station and the Chișinău Electric Station by the end of this year.

The 400 kV Overhead Power Line will have a length of 157 kilometers. Thus, over 500 pylons and 1500 kilometers of conductors will make a strategic link between the south and the center by intersecting 8 districts and 35 localities. Depending on the regime of the electric power system, the line will be able to ensure the transit of a flow of up to 630 MVA of power, which could satisfy the need for 50% of energy consumption during the period of maximum consumption.

This project is carried out by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, through the Ministry of Energy and the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), with the support of the World Bank Group.
