Residents of approximately 100 apartment buildings and three kindergartens in the capital will benefit from higher-quality and more energy-efficient district heating services. In the basements of these buildings, 147 state-of-the-art Individual Heating Stations will be installed for heating and hot water supply.

An international tender for this purpose has been launched by the Consolidated Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE) as part of the second Project for Improving the Efficiency of the Centralized Thermal Energy Supply System (PIESACET-2). The invitation to tender (request for proposals) can be found here:

The new installations will ensure more efficient and flexible consumption of thermal energy for heating and hot water preparation, according to residents’ needs, thanks to the possibility of setting the desired temperature at the building level via a control panel. Additionally, the installation is equipped with temperature sensors that allow adjusting thermal energy consumption depending on the outside air temperature.

It is worth mentioning that buildings currently lacking domestic hot water supply will be able to restore this system after installing the Individual Heating Stations, as the installations are equipped with heat exchangers (one for heating and one for hot water) capable of producing hot water in the building’s basement and delivering it immediately at the set temperature.

The Individual Heating Stations will also contribute to reducing consumption, improving the quality of heating services, and ensuring a higher level of energy efficiency. They will provide flexibility and efficiency in the operation of the centralized heating system by excluding outdated equipment from the circuit.

The second Project for Improving the Efficiency of the Centralized Thermal Energy Supply System (PIESACET-2) is financed by the World Bank.
