Development and diversification solutions for thermal and electrical energy production sources, including the modernization of the combined heat and power plants (CHPs) within Termoelectrica S.A., will be identified through a feasibility study.
This document is part of the second Project for Improving the Efficiency of the Centralized Thermal Energy Supply System (PIESACET-2), financed by the World Bank. The company selected to carry out the study (a joint venture between COLENCO Ltd., Skopje, North Macedonia, and Urban Technology Alliance, United Kingdom) was chosen through an international tender procedure, and today, February 6, a first on-site briefing and familiarization visit took place.
During the meeting, Ruslan Surugiu, Director of the Consolidated Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), emphasized the importance of the feasibility study in identifying and establishing medium- and long-term guidelines for developing internal capacities for thermal and electrical energy production within Termoelectrica S.A.: “At the same time, it represents the next step in preparing significant investments to modernize the country’s energy infrastructure.”
In this context, Iurie Razlovan, Director of Termoelectrica, specified that this investment package is useful and awaited by the enterprise: “We count on identifying the best available solutions in the sector, because the future of how we will modernize the energy infrastructure within Termoelectrica depends on this feasibility study.”
The study will examine various modern technologies, fuel solutions, and complementary technologies. Energy, technical, economic, and financial models will also be developed to identify the optimal solution and investment strategy proposed for implementation, which will contribute to the development of the district heating system in Chișinău and ensure efficient and reliable thermal energy supply to consumers.
The feasibility study is scheduled to be completed within 8 months.
Another component of the second Project for Improving the Efficiency of the Centralized Thermal Energy Supply System (PIESACET-2) targets the construction of new high-efficiency cogeneration plants (55 MW) within Termoelectrica S.A. The international tender for this investment package will be repeated.
