Moldova Energy Efficiency Project (MEEP)

Project objective:

Improve energy efficiency in public buildings, municipal and state owned, in the Republic of Moldova.

Project beneficiaries:

  • Public institutions of national level (governmental hospitals), including the medical staff and patients;
  • Public institutions of local/municipal level (kindergartens, schools and district/municipal medical institutions), including the final beneficiaries.

Project components and activities

Phase I
With emphasis on governmental hospital institutions
Phase II
with emphasis on institutions of local public authorities I and II level

Financing Sources

  • 30 million EUR - Finance Contract with the European Investment Bank (EIB)
  • 30 million EUR - Loan Agreement with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD);
  • 15 million EUR - Grant Agreement with the European Investment Bank to provide EU Neighbourhood Investment Platform Grant (NIP Grant);
  • 0.5 million EUR - Technical Assistance Grant from Eastern Partners Technical Assistance Trust Fund (EPTAF);
  • 1.4 million EUR - Government of Republic of Moldova.
