Representatives of the financing institutions conducted a site visit to the Alexei Mateevici Pedagogical College in Chișinău, one of the public buildings selected for energy rehabilitation under the INSPIREE Project – Initiative to Nurture Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Renovations for Energy Efficiency.
The visit took place as part of the official mission to the Republic of Moldova by a delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD), comprising Anne Roos-Weil, Deputy Head of Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia, and Annie Tran, Country Officer responsible for Moldova at AFD Headquarters.
The visit also brought together representatives of the project’s financing partners, AFD and KfW, as well as members of the MEPIU.
Discussions focused on the strategic importance of the INSPIREE Project, which aims to improve the energy performance of 30 public buildings across the Republic of Moldova, and on the long-term benefits that energy efficiency investments will bring to public institutions, their users, and local communities.
Participants had the opportunity to observe the current condition of the building and gain first-hand insight into the challenges faced by public institutions that will benefit from the planned rehabilitation works.
The INSPIREE Project is implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the Ministry of Energy and Moldova Energy Projects Implementation Unit (MEPIU), with the financial support from the French Development Agency AFD (EUR 30.0 million loan) and the Federal Government of Germany (EUR 38.7 million grant) through German Development Bank (KfW).
The project implementation period is 2025–2031.
