The construction works of the 400 kV Vulcănești-Chișinău 400kV Overhead Power Line (OPL) are in full swing even in winter. At the moment, the workers are in the field, being involved in the assembly and installation of the pylons on the Gagauzia and Taraclia UTA segment. It should be noted that the works are carried out in accordance with the work plan developed by the contractor and agreed by the responsible institutions, reflecting the best practices in the field. The progress of the works is about 190 foundations and about 30 assembled pylons, and the construction site extends over a distance of about 65 km.
At the same time, within the framework of the Power System Development Project, the works of creating the foundations for the autotransformer, the equipment in the distribution facility and the metal portals at the Chișinău Electric Station, within the Moldelectrica State Enterprise, are currently underway.
The modernization of the Chisinau 330kV substation together with the expansion of the Vulcănești 400 kV substation will allow the connection of the Vulcănești – Chisinau 400kV overhead power line (OPL) to the power infrastructure in the south and center of the country, including the municipality of Chisinau, and are necessary for the direct transport of energy flows to the largest electricity consumption node in the country.
The overall progress of the project implementation is approximately 49%, with reference to a number of important activities and stages that need to be ensured, including until the start of direct work on the construction site. Some of these are: performing aerial topography, developing, verifying and approving the technical project, conducting soil tests, necessary equipment and materials, testing the strength of various types of foundations and pillars, delivering the necessary equipment and materials, compensating landowners and many other very important processes that need to be ensured for the successful implementation of the project.
In accordance with what was previously announced, we emphasize that the construction works of the 400 kV Overhead Power Line on the Vulcănești - Chișinău direction will be completed by the end of 2025.
The works are carried out within the framework of the Power System Development Project and are part of the priority measures of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, aimed at ensuring the country's energy security. The project is financed by the World Bank Group.
