The Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, visited the Chisinau Power Station, where the construction works of the foundations of the 330kV and 400 kV equipment for the power autotransformer are in full swing, and the foundation works for the 400 kV equipment are at a final stage of execution. At the same time, the primary equipment necessary for the modernization of the station in a proportion of about 80% have already been delivered to the Republic of Moldova, including the 630 MVA autotransformer, the high-voltage circuit breakers and separators at 330 kV and 400 kV.
In this context, Dorin Junghietu stressed the need to mobilize and consolidate the contractor's workforce to complete the works as soon as possible: "The construction works necessary for the installation of the equipment are in full swing and have visible progress, however, we will ask the contractor, together with all the parties involved, to make additional efforts to ensure that the works will be completed as soon as possible," the Minister of Energy said.
During the discussions, the director of the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), Ruslan Surugiu, informed the official about the progress made, as well as the work plan for the next period, noting that the necessary measures are being taken and the contractor's work schedule is being strictly monitored, so that the works are completed, according to the proposed deadline.
The General Director of Moldelectrica, Sergiu Aparatu, emphasized during the discussion the importance of the new installations for facilitating the operation of the power system, offering the possibility of supplying the Chisinau power node with electricity.
It should be noted that the Chisinau Power Station will be modernized by expanding the existing 330 kV installation with a new 400 kV cell for the Vulcănești-Chisinau OHL with the installation of a 400/330 kV autotransformer.
The modernization of the Chisinau Station, together with the expansion of the Vulcănești 400 kV Power Station, will allow the connection of the Vulcănești – Chisinau 400kV Overhead Power Line (OHL) to the power infrastructure in the southern and central areas of the country, including the Chisinau municipality, and are necessary for the direct transport of energy flows to the largest electricity consumption node in the country.
The company contracted to carry out the works is the Association of Siemens Energy SRL, Electromontaj S.A and Energotech S.A. from Romania.
This project is implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, through the Ministry of Energy and UCIPE, with the support of the World Bank. The beneficiary of the project is the State Enterprise Moldelectrica and energy consumers.
