Energy Savings and CO₂ Emissions Reduction Resulting from Investments in the District Heating System (SACET) in Chișinău

The District Heating Efficiency Improvement Project in Chișinău includes several investment packages. The most significant results achieved through these investments are:

Package C1.1

“Construction of a pumping station and interconnection network between CET-1 and CET-2 circuits”

  • Electricity savings of approximately 3.376 million kWh/year, with a total annual value of 6.14 million MDL.
  • Reduction in CO₂ emissions by about 2,300 tons/year.
Package C1.2

“Reconstruction and renovation of main pumping stations SP–8, SP–12, SP–13”

  • Electricity savings of approximately 8.4 million kWh/year, with a total annual value of 15 million MDL.
  • Reduction in CO₂ emissions by about 5,900 tons/year.
Packages C1.1.1, C1.4, C1.7, C1.8, C1.9

“Rehabilitation of priority segments of SACET’s main thermal networks”

  • Reduction of thermal energy losses by approx. 2,300 Gcal/year and annual savings of 402.5 thousand MDL.
  • Reduction of malfunction and downtime rates to nearly zero.
Package C1.3

“Reconnection of public institutions to SACET, including installation of PTIs and reconstruction of associated thermal networks”

  • Increase in thermal load during the 2017–2018 heating season by approximately 36 Gcal/h, and thermal energy sales of 21,507 Gcal/season, amounting to 24.131 million MDL/season.
Package C1.6

“Installation of PTIs and reconstruction of associated thermal networks in residential buildings”

  • Reduction of thermal energy losses by approx. 1,683 Gcal/year and annual savings of 286.6 thousand MDL.
  • Increase in domestic hot water thermal load during the summer, with thermal energy sales of 47.5 Gcal, or 53.2 thousand MDL.
  • Optimization of the hydraulic system in the unified CET Sursa 1 and 2 circuit during the transition period, with an increased cogeneration load at CET Sursa 1.
