The implementation of projects targeting social, environmental, and gender aspects falls within the activity objectives of the Consolidated Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), in the process of executing projects financed with the support of the World Bank.
This topic was discussed during a working meeting at the World Bank, attended by the Acting Director of UCIPE, Ruslan Surugiu, the institution’s social and environmental specialists Ala Rotaru and Anatol Burlacu, as well as the World Bank PASA consultant on social and gender issues, Eugenia Ganea.
During the meeting, the parties examined the implementation of the World Bank’s requirements in drafting documents related to social and environmental aspects for the realization of the Energy System Development Project in the Republic of Moldova (PDSE), in the context of the construction of the high-voltage single-circuit overhead power line (400 kV) on the Vulcănești-Chișinău route (PDSE). These documents include: the Resettlement Action Plan, the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Report, the Site-Specific Environmental and Social Management Plan, the Stakeholder Engagement Plan, the Grievance Mechanism, and the creation and functioning of Social and Environmental Impact Monitoring Committees.
The parties expressed openness for further collaboration in all activities ensuring compliance with social aspects, including gender equality principles, as well as the involvement of World Bank experts in actions taken to prevent risk factors and maintain effective communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
